FORVIA HELLA Receives Provincial “Green Factory” Certification at its Jiaxing Lighting Plant
- The recognition highlights the plant’s outstanding achievements in energy efficiency and CO2 reduction, environmental protection, resource recycling, intelligent and sustainable manufacturing
Shanghai 24 November 2025International automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA has announced that its Jiaxing Lighting Plant – the company’s largest lighting facility in Asia – has been awarded the Zhejiang Provincial “Green Factory” certification. This highly selective certification adheres to extremely rigorous standards, covering various dimensions such as energy and resource utilization, carbon emissions and ecological protection, management systems and digitalization. This prestigious recognition not only affirms the plant’s outstanding achievements in energy efficiency and emissions reduction, environmental protection, resource recycling, and intelligent and sustainable manufacturing, but also demonstrates FORVIA HELLA’s unwavering commitment and proactive efforts in advancing sustainable development.
“This certification is much more than a validation of our compliance with rigorous standards – it is a powerful endorsement of the culture we have built. At our Jiaxing lighting plant, sustainability is not just an objective; it is embedded in every decision, every process, and every action we take. We believe true excellence comes from empowering every associate to take ownership, pay attention to detail, and make a difference every day”, says Raman Eswaran, General Manager of FORVIA HELLA Jiaxing Lighting Plant. “Earning the Green Factory certification affirms our long-term dedication to sustainability and our continuous investment and efforts in eco-friendly practices. It is a true testament to the discipline, passion, and teamwork of our entire team, the trust of our customers, and the strong support from local authorities.”
Aligning with China’s “Dual Carbon” Goals
FORVIA HELLA has consistently responded to China’s national “dual carbon” strategy by deeply integrating the concept of sustainable development into product R&D, production, daily operations, and supply chain management. The company has also set a clear target to achieve net-zero emissions across its entire value chain by 2045.
Sustainability Initiatives at the Jiaxing Plant
Guided by the principles of sustainability, the Jiaxing Lighting Plant has optimized its energy structure and installed solar photovoltaic systems, generating 45,000 kWh of green electricity annually. The plant continuously advances sustainable upgrades in raw materials, processes, and equipment. Highly automated equipment has been introduced to enhance production line efficiency, while modular and flexible lines have been established to increase manufacturing agility. The installation of energy-saving devices has reduced energy consumption and enabled recycling, resulting in an annual reduction of approximately 3,500 tons of CO₂ emissions. The plant also implements refined energy management, enabling real-time tracking and monitoring of energy data to achieve a balance between high efficiency and low energy consumption. Digitalization further drives ongoing energy conservation and emissions reduction. At the same time, the plant has achieved more than 95% percent recycling of non-hazardous waste and continues to advance pollutant reduction and resource recovery. By encouraging collaboration with upstream and downstream partners on emissions reduction, the plant consistently lowers its environmental impact and strengthens its sustainable competitiveness.
As one of the few enterprises in Zhejiang Province to receive the “Green Factory” certification in the automotive industry, FORVIA HELLA Jiaxing Lighting Plant has set a benchmark for green practices in the field. Looking ahead, FORVIA HELLA will continue to take the Jiaxing plant as a role model, working closely with stakeholders across the industry value chain to explore efficient and sustainable development pathways, further advancing the establishment of sustainable manufacturing systems, and making greater contributions toward achieving the “dual carbon” goals in China.
