FORVIA HELLA launches Highly Integrated Headlamps for new LUXEED R7
- Benchmark lighting solution combines exceptional performance with state-of-the-art and affordable lighting technology
International automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA has collaborated with LUXEED, a Chinese new energy vehicle brand, to create highly integrated headlamps for the new coupe SUV, the R7. These headlamps boast an innovative lamp design that strikes a perfect balance between low power consumption and high performance. With an all-in-one design, these headlamps set a benchmark for lighting solutions that offer outstanding performance and cost benefits. Featuring a new generation of intelligent Electronic Control Units (ECUs), they fully comply with the high standards of the Harmony Intelligent Mobility System. The LUXEED R7 has officially
In today's market, the perfect balance between sophisticated lighting technology and cost efficiency is increasingly recognized as an overarching priority, extending beyond traditionally cost-sensitive segments", says Didier Keskas, Head of Lighting Business in the Asia-Pacific Region at FORVIA HELLA. "Leveraging our global lighting expertise, innovative design, our fully localized R&D team and supply chain, along with a strong local presence, we've successfully developed a headlamp for the new LUXEED R7 that features state-of-the-art lighting technology and is yet affordable. Our 'intelligent, flexible, and sustainable' technical solutions empower our customers to strengthen their market position by offering products that balance performance, innovation, and affordability, ultimately enhancing safety and personalization for end-users."
Integration of Innovative Design and Exceptional Performance
The headlamps showcase a highly integrated design, combining the position light and direction indicator into one illuminated area. By utilizing a dual-focus light source distribution design, it ensures uniform illumination for both the position lamp in white and the direction indicator in yellow. The position light offers dual modes for day and night: when the low beam is activated, the position light automatically dims and shifts to night mode, effectively preventing glare interference to other road users; in day mode, the position light takes the place of the daytime running light by boosting brightness. This integrated design enhances lighting performance and allows for the use of low-power LEDs, which reduces both cost and energy consumption of the headlamps.
Each headlamp includes two compact high beam and two low beam modules, delivering broad light distribution covering a width of over 30 meters and reaching over 200 meters in range, effectively expanding the driver’s field of vision (FOV) and greatly enhancing driving safety. Next-Generation Intelligent Headlamp ECU: High Integration, Performance and Energy Efficiency In the field of headlamp control, FORVIA HELLA equips the LUXEED R7 headlamps with next-generation lighting electronics. The ECUs not only ensure precise management of diverse lighting functions but also support feature updates and security enhancements through vehicle OTA leveraging a proprietary software platform. They incorporate a low-power mode and adhere to the ASIL B functional safety standards, meeting the most recent regulatory requirements. Compared to traditional systems, FORVIA HELLA's intelligent headlamp ECUs minimize the installation space in the vehicle and lower assembly complexity and further shorten production time through modular and compact design. To meet the high standards of the Harmony Intelligent Mobility System, the product delivers millisecond-level lighting responses via optimized algorithms and has undergone more than 10 thousand stress testing to verify the reliability of OTA upgrades, safeguarding both functional safety and cyber security. The ECU employs local intelligent driving chips, paired with optimized hardware circuit design and heat dissipation design, ensuring stable performance in extreme conditions from -40°C to +70°C while achieving an optimal balance of power, size, and weight
