Sensors

Use opportunities for growth - with the Hella Electronics range.

Crankshaft sensor
The crankshaft sensor serves to record the engine speed and the position of the crankshaft. The control unit uses these values to calculate the injection and ignition impulses.

Camshaft sensor
The camshaft sensor is on the cylinder head and scans a ring gear on the camshaft. This information is required, for example, for the start of injection for sequential injection, for the triggering signal of the solenoid valve for the pump-nozzle injection system and for cylinder-selective knock control.

Airflow meter
The airflow meter is mounted between the air filter housing and the intake manifold. It measures the amount of air that flows into the engine. This is the basis for calculating the amount of fuel that has to be fed to the engine.

Manifold air temperature sensor
The manifold air temperature sensor is in the engine intake air system and records the air temperature. This value is used by the engine management as a correction parameter for carburetion and ignition angle.

Coolant temperature sensor
The coolant temperature sensor is screwed into the coolant system. The measuring tip juts into the coolant and records the temperature. The control unit uses this value to adapt the amount of fuel to be injected into the engine to the engine temperature.

Throttle valve sensor
Throttle valve sensors are attached to the throttle valve axis and monitor the opening angle of the throttle valve. From these values, the engine electronics calculates the amount of fuel to be injected, dependent on further factors.

Knocking sensor
Knocking is an uncontrolled form of spark ignition combustion. Since knocking leads to engine damage in the long term, it has to be monitored. The engine control unit evaluates the voltage signals being sent by the knocking sensor and controls the ignition point in a range just below the so-called knocking limit.

Wheel speed sensor
The wheel speed is used by assistance systems such as ABS and ASR as a speed value and by GPS systems to calculate the distance covered. A sensor fault will lead to these systems failing. Which significantly reduces safety.

Level sensor
For reasons of operating safety and to increase driving comfort, filling levels such as engine oil, coolant and wiper system water are monitored using level sensors. These send a signal to the cockpit which activates a signal lamp.

Oxygen sensors
By 2010 the share of electronics in vehicles will be make up more than 30% of the overall material value. The number of electronic vehicle components is increasing with every vehicle that comes off the assembly line.

So that you can fall back on the Hella quality you are used to, Hella now also has a range of oxygen sensors available.
