1. I want to convert
my vehicle’s headlights to Xenon/HID. Does Hella
sell Xenon (HID) retrofit kits for my vehicle?
Answer: No. The Xenon or
HID "retrofit" kits that are widely sold on the Internet
are illegal and potentially harmful to other drivers.
The only legal Xenon conversions are those that use
factory parts designed for a specific model of vehicle
and sold by the manufacturer as an optional upgrade.
The Xenon headlamps are designed as a complete system
that includes the bulb, reflector, lens, housing,
ballast, and other specific parts. Merely using the
bulb and ballast inserted into a modified Halogen
headlight housing will not give the proper light
pattern. This is due to the fact that reflectors
manufactured for Halogen bulbs and reflectors manufactured
for Xenon capsules are very different in design and
are not compatible. The result is usually a large
amount of glare and scattered light that can blind
oncoming drivers. Because these kits are illegal,
Hella does not sell or endorse any Xenon “retrofit” kits.

2. I have cracked a lens
on my Hella lights and need to purchase the lens itself.
Does Hella sell replacement parts for their light kits?
Answer: Hella does not sell individual repair parts at this time, only complete kits. Some Hella vendors do, however, sell individual repair parts such as lenses, mounting hardware, or grommets. Please check with a Hella Retailer for more information. here: Retailers

3. Does Hella make any 24V lighting products?
Answer: Yes. All lights,
accessories, and bulbs listed on this website are
12V unless otherwise noted, but we have many featured
products available in 24V. Most lights can be converted
to 24V by merely replacing the 12V bulb with a 24V
bulb. The wiring itself is no different. You can
check availability in our online catalog by clicking
here: Online
Catalog or by contacting a Hella retailer

5.
I see that some products say “ECE”, “DOT”, or “SAE”.
What do these abbreviations mean?
“ECE”, “DOT”, and “SAE” are all abbreviations for
different regulatory agencies that govern the automotive
lighting market in different regions of the world.
ECE - Economic Commission for Europe
DOT - United States Department of Transportation
SAE - Society of Automotive Engineers
Only lights that have a DOT or SAE approval are legal for use on US highways. ECE approved lighting is only for use on European highways and is not legal for use on American roads.

6.
What is the difference between products that
are DOT/SAE approved and products that are labeled “For Off-Road Use Only"?
Products that are DOT/SAE approved are legal
for use on all roads and highways in the United
States. Products without this approval or products
that are labeled “For Off-Road Use Only” are
not legal for use on U.S. roads and highways.

8. Why are some bulbs available in 100W but are not
listed on the spare parts list?
Hella has several high-wattage bulbs for sale that are not SAE/DOT certified and should be used at the consumer's discretion. These are intended for Off-Road or Racing use only and may require wiring upgrades or additional relays.

9. Can I mount my lamps upside down?
Most Hella pendant style aftermarket
lamp kits are designed to be mounted either above
or below the bracket. To mount these lamps upside
down, the lens/reflector assembly will need to
be rotated 180° to keep the proper alignment of the
beam pattern. This can easily be done by loosening
the front mounting ring and rotating the lens/reflector
assembly before re-tightening. The beam pattern
will be noticeably better if this step is taken.

10. I have Hella driving/fog lights on my vehicle
as a factory installed option. Where do I find replacement
parts such as lenses or covers for these lights?
Being a worldwide leader in lighting, Hella manufactures lighting components for many new vehicle manufacturers. Hella usually provides only the lamp portion itself to the manufacturers who, in turn, design and construct their own housings and mounting brackets for their specific vehicles. For that reason, Hella does not have access to any parts for factory installed Hella lighting. Any parts or warranty information for these lights will have to come from the manufacturer.

You must contact the retailer for any warranty claims. Do not send any material directly to Hella for warranty claims. For complete details on the Hella warranty, please click the link here: Warranty
