RUGGED HELLA XENON LIGHTING ON DISPLAY AT CIM MINING CONFERENCE AND CANADIAN MINING AND INDUSTRIAL EXPO 2005

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -- Lighting specialist Hella Inc. will display the latest technology in special work lamps for mining and tunnel-construction vehicles at the CIM Mining Conference in Toronto, Ontario, on April 24-27, 2005 and at the Canadian Mining and Industrial Expo 2005 in Sudbury, Ontario, on May 4-5, 2005.

Hella lamps provide durable, air-tight performance with optimum light output in the demanding environment encountered by mining and underground construction vehicles. Hella products will be showcased at the CIM Mining Conference in Booth 706 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and at the Canadian Mining and Industrial Expo in Booth 138 at the Copper Cliff Curling Club and McClelland Arena.

Hella's AS 200 FF Xenon work lamp, for example, has been designed for powerful close-range illumination, according to Siegfried Tigges, Canadian national sales manager for Hella Inc. The xenon lamp is suitable for mobile plants and machines with 24-volt electrical systems and its high-performance polymer housing is resistant to the harsh and aggressive substances often found in mines and on industrial sites.

"The sturdy ballast electronics of our xenon lamps are incorporated into the headlamp, which provides added protection and eliminates the need for extra design space," Tigges said. "These rugged work lamps are not only more compact, they also provide up to 2.5 times more light and use less energy than a typical 55-watt halogen bulb."

Hella also has developed its Oval 100FF xenon compact work lamps where space is at a premium. These heavy-duty mining lamps provide homogenous long-range illumination and orientation, thanks to a free-form reflector and clear-glass optics. Hella also offers the AS200 FF and Oval100 FF with halogen light sources.

Hella mining headlamps are equipped with the DRACO anti-vibration system specially developed by Hella. The system is integrated into a stainless steel console, providing vibration damping under the toughest conditions. Every Hella mining headlamp also is fitted with the MUSTADD filtered ventilation system, which prevents penetration of dirt and dust particles, as well as humidity.

Hella also has developed its durable DuraLed® signal lamps and flashing beacons for special mining applications. These high-intensity lamps offer unique registered designs and the innovative Multivolt system that ensures the same bright light output at all supply voltages from 9 volts DC to 33 volts DC. All DuraLed products are fully sealed and pre-wired to cope with temporary immersion and high-pressure cleaning.
