Hella’s debut at the Singapore Motorshow 2006

Singapore, 09 November 2006 – Hella, the pioneer and global leader in automotive development will be presenting innovative lighting technology with interactive fun during its debut at the Singapore Motorshow from 10th to 19th November 2006.

Wide ranges of auxiliary lights, combination rearlights, upgrade headlights, intelligent retrofit lights and a comprehensive range of automotive accessories will showcase Hella’s leadership in technology, innovation and design.

Intelligent cornering light as a special safety plus - Asian premiere

For the first time ever, a driving lamp is able to illuminate corners and bends on the road independently and “intelligently”. This can be seen in the Asian premiere of DynaView® Evo2, the world’s first retrofit cornering light system. It combines the safety functions of a cornering light and fog light in a single housing for universal retrofit.
The system is controlled by an intelligent chip which constantly calculates the current transverse acceleration of the vehicle and automatically triggers the cornering lamp as required – absolutely independently of external technology such as GPS-controlled systems. As a supplementary feature, both cornering lights can be activated to function as auxiliary fog lights to ensure additional safety when driving in foggy or low visibility conditions. The lighting performance of the DynaView® Evo2 can be seen at Hella’s Stand 4C17, Hall 4.

Innovative lighting technology

The human eye, originally designed for seeing during daylight, has to rely on additional light sources in the dark or poor visibility conditions. This is particularly true for participation in road traffic. The improvement of light output not only requires expensive research and development of lighting technologies but also the mastering of electronic systems.

Night-time turns into day: The development of Xenon headlights is a quantum leap in terms of safety. With this system, high-performance electronics control the light ignition and constant light output. The driver, experiencing normal visibility conditions even in the darkest night-time conditions, does not tire as quickly and is much more relaxed – even during long drives, thus bringing enormous benefits for both road safety and driving comfort.

LED (Light Emitting Diode) and light guide technology: LEDs offer a decisive advantage over conventional bulbs such as low energy consumption, long service life and quick reaction time. These not only represent additional safety, but also set an unmistakable trend with more freedom for the design of combination rearlights and new possibilities for the accessories sector.

Top Design

Keeping in tune to the latest trends, Hella also strives to capture the drivers’ demands for classic aesthetics. Combining striking and classic styling, the Comet series of driving and fog lamps are designed to offer personal design preferences for every driver and have been widely popular with both passenger cars and off-road vehicles in Singapore, receiving the popular "iF Design Award" from the Industry Forum Design in Hanover for its Comet FF line in 2001. In 2004, it received the award for not only one, but two accessory products in the lighting sector. The success of its driving lamp Jumbo 320 and the new clear-glass Daytime Running Light generated world-wide recognition for Hella as a high-quality manufacturer, emphasising Hella's outstanding competence in the field of design and innovation.

Offering new and versatile design possibilities, the CELIS® (Central Lighting Systems) fibre optic lighting technology developed and introduced by Hella for original equipment lighting products in luxury passenger cars such as the “Angel Eyes” of the BMW is now available for the aftermarket, as seen integrated on the Luminator Chromium CELIS® auxiliary headlight.

The circular light strip features prism optics and flexible fibre glass light guides that evenly disperses the most powerful white LED without compromise to the light distribution, giving this innovative auxiliary headlight a striking and distinct appearance.

Further highlights at the Hella stand include auxiliary headlamps from the popular Rallye 1000 series, multiple award-winning Micro DE series and upgrade rearlights package with striking silver/red design for BMW Z4.

Interactive fun at the “Hella Drive Challenge”

Hella demonstrates how light plays an important role in safety on a dark road with the “Hella Drive Challenge” competition. Through a virtual night drive, the player can gain live experience of the influence that difference lighting systems (halogen, xenon, bend lighting) have on driving behavior while navigating through obstacles. Players collect points, light upgrades and time credits for skillful driving. The top 3 winners of the challenge will stand to win attractive prizes. The “Hella Drive Challenge” is open to all and will run for the full duration of the Motorshow.
