Hella LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) offer long service life and superior signal lighting for active road safety without increasing fuel consumption in daily operation.
For the commercial transport industry, even a small crash has consequences, which can impact on customer relations. A study on behalf of the European Commission has found that half of all accidents that occur during the day involve drivers overlooking other vehicles or recognising them too late. The study also shows that DRLs prevent 58% of accidents with serious injuries*.
As a professional driver, it's safer to drive with the main headlights on, however, the low beam does not fulfil the required signal function and measurably increases fuel consumption when used during the day. Unlike low beam, which is designed to illuminate the road when driving at night, Hella DRLs produce a highly effective signal light specifically designed to increase the vehicle's visibility to oncoming traffic during the day.

Hella LED DRLs are equipped with 3 high-performance Luxeon Power LEDs and high-sheen metallised free-form (FF) reflectors providing a superior signal pattern for maximum visibility and early recognition by other road users. They automatically switch on when the engine is started and switch off when the main headlamps are activated or the engine is turned off for permanent protection without a hassle. Other features include robust die-cast aluminium housing with cooling fins for optimum heat dissipation, clear polycarbonate lens and universal mounting bracket for upright or pendant mounting.
In addition to optimum visibility, Hella LED DRLs offer the benefit of low power consumption and ultra long service life. Whilst a low beam headlamp system consumes approximately 110 watts, two LED DRLs require only 10 watts of power in total. In turn, LED DRLs do not measurably increase fuel consumption in daily operation, making them ideal for continuous use. Unlike conventional low beam, LED DRLs are maintenance-free and will last for the life of the vehicle. The service life of an LED is approximately 10,000 hours, which is thirty times longer than that of a H7 globe.
Hella LED DRLs are multi-voltage, thus universally suitable for both 12 and 24-volt vehicle electrical systems, and installation is made easy thanks to the pre-assembled professional harness and universal mounting bracket included.
