Hella's retrofit tyre pressure control system offers drivers a higher standard of active safety, greater economy and exceptional comfort.

Incorrect tyre pressure has a direct bearing on increased fuel consumption, excessive tyre wear and in turn, reduced vehicle control and driver safety. Yet most drivers don't have time for regular pressure checks to help prevent tyre damage that can cause dangerous road traffic situations.

Hella now offers peace of mind with the release of a universal tyre pressure control system TC-400 suitable for retrofitting to almost all passenger vehicles with a 12V electrical system.

The TC-400 tyre pressure control system continuously monitors the air pressure and internal temperature of each tyre, instantly warning the driver of pressure loss and other tyre defects. The complete system consists of four wheel sensors with integrated transmitters, a central control unit with receiving module and a multi-colour cockpit LCD display module. The control system is activated at the push of a button without additional programming required and can be used immediately after installation.

The innovative cockpit display module is easy to use and allows drivers to call up status messages at any time and configure the system to their individual requirements. Another unique feature of the cockpit display is the ability to choose from 7 different background illumination colours to match the vehicle's instrument lighting.

To install the TC-400 system, the conventional pressure valves of the vehicle are replaced with high-tech wheel sensors, which are powered by integrated long-life high-performance batteries with a service life of up to ten years. The sensors measure the air pressure and internal temperature of each tyre every 54 seconds and radio-transmit the data to the central control unit. As soon as the pressure in one of the monitored tyres drops below a user selected tolerance level, the control unit triggers both an acoustic and visual alarm on the display module inside the cockpit and transmission frequency is increased to 0.9 seconds. The system can monitor up to 7 tyres simultaneously (2 x front, 4 x rear, 1 x spare) and also warns of both excess pressure and temperature and slow pressure loss. The system design allows it to be set to European or US measurement variables - Celsius or Fahrenheit, bar, kPa or psi.

Hella strongly recommends installation by qualified auto electricians in conjunction with a wheel/tyre specialist or tyre specialist centre.
