Lippstadt, September 2014. At this year's Automechanika, the light expert HELLA is going to present the Luminator X LED auxiliary headlamp for the first time. The headlight's innovative double-reflector technology offers long-range illumination, thus guaranteeing optimum visibility. As such, it allows drivers of off-road vehicles, SUVs and vans better vision and thus increased safety, even in difficult conditions such as off-road driving situations.
Its distinctive design sets the Luminator X LED apart from conventional halogen and xenon variants. Another advantage is the innovative LED technology. Thanks to its long lifetime, the light source will never need to be replaced, making the auxiliary headlamp a low-maintenance feature. The heat generated by the LEDs and the control electronics is dissipated via cooling ribs at the rear of the housing, so there is no need for an active ventilation system. The cold white LED light also makes it easier for the human eye to see, thus preventing signs of fatigue and lapses in concentration. What is more, the Luminator X LED is even designed to handle submersion in water for short periods of time, such as when crossing a river at a ford. Thanks to its special ventilation system and the pressure compensation provided by its watertight, dust-sealed membrane filter, it can withstand this strain with no problems at all. With its small, compact, 12.7 cm diameter housing, the new technology of the Luminator X LED offers an alternative to the more conventional, tried-and-tested Luminator X Xenon. The headlamp has a robust metal housing and is suitable for either standing or suspended installation. It also has ECE type approval, and is suitable for vehicle electric system voltages of 12 or 24 volts.
