Lippstadt, Germany, April 10th, 2014. The international automotive parts supplier, HELLA, has opened HELLA Globe in Lippstadt. The new building, literally on the doorstep of company headquarters, will be used as a guest, conference and sports center for HELLA employees from Germany and abroad. Dr. Jürgen Behrend, General Managing Partner, and Lippstadt's mayor Christof Sommer, in the presence of representatives from the world of politics, business, media and also the team of builders and architects, ceremoniously inaugurated HELLA Globe on Thursday.
"The Globe is intended to act as a home away from home for HELLA personnel from all over the world when they stay here at our headquarters in Lippstadt," explained Dr. Behrend during the event. "It is a veritable symbol of our international network, which now comprises people living and working in Germany, Europe, America and in the Asia-Pacific region." Thus today the company boasts more than 30,000 members of staff at more than 100 locations in more than 35 countries right across the globe. The number of employees who arrive in Lippstadt from all four corners of the earth for meetings, coordination talks and training courses has been rising steadily for years. With the advent of HELLA Globe, the visitors will now be able to enjoy their very own guest house located in close proximity to company headquarters, a guest house providing 39 rooms with ultra modern furnishings, a spacious lounge area and five conference and meeting rooms that can be flexibly laid out to suit a variety of occasions.
Furthermore, HELLA Globe, covering an area of 3,300 square meters, is equipped with a fitness center and a sports hall, thus providing another mainstay for HELLA IN MOTION, the company's sports and health program. The fitness center stretches over an area of 175 square meters and is equipped with state-of-the-art apparatus aimed at strength and endurance training. A team of experienced physiotherapists from the local, Lippstadt-based Revitalis health center is at hand to provide instruction and support.
And in the 300-square-meter-large sports hall, HELLA sports groups can meet to practice their soccer, volleyball and basketball skills. An added bonus of this hall is that it can also be used to stage larger events and to hold lectures and talks.
As part of its international networking strategy, HELLA strives for consistent expansion of its presence in every major growth market in the world. The company is addressing the resulting complexity by expanding the group headquarters in Lippstadt into a global site for controlling, expertise and technology. This idea provided the backdrop for Lippstadt's mayor, Christof Sommer's comments emphasizing that, "HELLA is a large and important employer here in the region. The construction work in the past months?the new development building at the Nordwerk facility and now the Globe?show that the company is deeply rooted in the region. HELLA is providing an important contribution to strengthening the Lippstadt technology site."
The automotive parts supplier recently opened a development building for the growing Electronics Business Division in November 2013. Now 700 engineers working in the building develop innovative technologies for state-of-the-art mobility. The main focal point of their work is the four product areas of driver assistance systems and energy management, steering, components and body electronics and controlling the 19 development sites and 16 production sites around the world with more than 8,000 employees.
