Independent development and production structures in the SOE product division. Globally aligned development, production and sales networks. Assigned companies HLF, HTS, HBEU, HFA, JMAI, HPI, HNZ, CAL, HBL, BSL, HSBL. Independent development in HLF, GHOE, HFA, HNZ, HBL and HSBL in the following product segments:
- Lamps, incl. work lamps especially for buses, trucks, agricultural and construction machines
- Standard lamps as individual and modular solutions for other automotive target groups
- Single-function and multi-function lamps, some with wiring systems
- Reflex reflectors
- Interior lamps
- Electrical and electronics components
- Hellamarine products for the marine leisure market
- Hella-Bike products for the bicycle market
Independent testing facilities in the development centres as well as access to the central measuring and testing centres in Lippstadt and Changchung. To differentiate the motor vehicle automotive industry target group from the Special OE target group, it should be explained that SOE development is geared towards the development of independent devices for the aftermarket (standard devices / modular concept) and the adaptation of existing (standard) devices in accordance with customer requirements as well as the development of customer-specific new developments.
Development (Project Management and Time to Market Process):
Product Management is in charge of coordinating world-wide activities during the time to market process. To this end, they follow a standardised time to market process (TtM). Employees from Development, Planning, Quality Management, Production and Cost Management belong to project teams that accompany, support and work on this process from the initial idea up to the series production. Along with the product, their responsibility also comprises the required operating equipment and production processes.
From the concept phase up to series production, the project team manages all the participating specialists and specialised departments at an international level. At defined decision-making stages (gateways), the team reviews the achievement of defined goals and initiates the next process step.
This modern product management approach makes all processes transparent. As a result, possibilities for improvement can be identified at any time and integrated into the development or production process. As "tools of the trade", Product Management has at its disposal state-of-the-art development methodology, tools and processes. They provide Hella with the necessary competence to develop hardware and software in line with automotive requirements and conduct development-supporting product tests and inspections.
R&D:
New innovative product ideas based on our longstanding experience in the vehicle equipment sector are steadily emerging. Hella immediately transforms these ideas into standard and customer-specific applications.
In an integrated time to market process (TtM), basic, preliminary and series development work closely together with customers and independent scientific institutes. This concentrated development work continuously results in functionally optimised products that set new standards and make Hella the market leader in its core competency fields. We use the knowledge gained from customer projects and basic research to constantly re-define the limits of what is achievable and to shorten innovation cycles. Hella utilises the available synergies from specialised knowledge in light technology and electronics to develop comprehensive system solutions.
Interdisciplinary teams undertake the responsibility for the success of a product, from the development phase up to production. This allows Hella to realise shorter development times and ensures quick implementation of customer requirements.
